Yet again due to the current weather it has been decided to change the location of the next event on Sunday 14th September - it is now at Llandow and not Ewenny Woods at 1pm.

We have recently been contacted by the gun club with whom we share the Ewenny Woods venue. They expressed significant concern that at a recent BAC event, cars being driven at high speed were seen by their members going down the access road to the gun club. Apart from the obvious and primary issue of safety as this road has several blind bends, they were also not happy at the damage to the road surface which they had recently provided at their own expense. Members are reminded of this specific rule contained in the Club handbook:
“Vehicles must not exceed a speed of 5 mph in any area of the venue except when competing on a run as directed by the organiser.”

Next Event on Saturday 23rd August will now be at Llandow and not Ewenny Woods, this was decided because of the condition of the woods following the recent rainfall.

The Forresters Car Club are running a Track Day at Llandow on Sunday 20th July, see the poster for details. There are still places available for this event if you are interested then please contact Jon Lougher on 07830-712538. Or Email here. He needs to know numbers by 1st July.
The cost is £65 per car, £10 per additional driver and £20 deposit up front to secure a place (there are a limited number of places).

Junior Member Becky Tilleke was asked to play her cello with some friends at the launch of the new Honda Accord at Bassett’s Honda, Tremains Road. The launch was broadcast live by Lee Jukes of Bridge FM and Stan Stennett was the celebrity compere.

A reminder in advance of the first event at Ewenny Woods on Sunday 8th June the committee decided earlier in the year (see Committee Meeting Minutes, February 2008), that for all future events at Ewenny Woods NO knobbly/competition/M+S tyres would be allowed - only standard road tyres and cut road tyres.
Pencoed Classic Car Show is taking place on Sunday 11th May in the grounds of the Pencoed Agricultural College.

At the Autotest held at Llandow on Sunday 23rd March a Spash of the Day Competition took place and the winner was...... Mark Suter. Well done Mark !

A quiz took place at the Barley Mow on Tuesday 11th March - a big thank you to all those who turned up and took part.
However, The adjudicators have double checked the answer sheets this morning and found a counting error on one answer paper!! The G***** Appreciation Society scored one more point in the Motorsport section than marked on their paper!!! This does mean that they actually won - if anyone wants to dispute this the papers can be produced next week. The club were informed that one of the clubs very early members, Paul (the pill) Davies sadly died suddenly at the end of January. Are thoughts are with his family and friends.

The Club Annual General Meeting\Awards Night will be taking place at 7:30pm on Saturday 23rd February at the Victoria Inn at Sigingstone. Cost is £15 a head (that's £5 cheaper than last year !). Please see Geoff Bessant to book and pay for your place as soon as possible. Should be a good night so come along.

Please note that the Quiz being hosted by the Welsh Counties Car Club at The Greedown in St. Georges-Super-Ely, near Cardiff is being held on MONDAY 14th January and NOT on Tuesday 15th January as first thought. Please try to come along, the two teams from BAC who entered the last quiz in December had a good time. Teams of up to 4 people can take part. Please come along at 7:30pm ready to start at 8pm.

The club were very sad to hear the news of the recent death of Craig Finch (an ex member of the club), in a road traffic accident before Christmas. Our thoughts are with his family.

Again the committee would be grateful for some volunteers to help organise events, it always seems to be the same few people who give their time to make sure you have a good time ! So please come along and help and then eventually you will be able to organise your own events. To help this we have produced some Autotest Guidelines - please have a look at them and then come and help before the start of the next event. (Autotest - 27th January at Llandow).

Jim Mason and David Glanville are driving 4000 miles to Mali, West Africa in a 24-year-old Vauxhall Carlton.
Following our trip-of-a-lifetime to Mongolia in 2006, we decided it was time for another. We are now just a few days away from the start of the Timbuktu Run 2008. This is the latest incarnation of the Plymouth-Dakar Challenge (www.plymouth-dakar.co.uk) (which sounds a bit like Paris-Dakar...geddit?).
The event should entail around 4000 miles through between seven and nine countries (depending on whether or not you count Gibraltar and Western Sahara) over about three weeks. Our initial target is to reach Bamako in Mali. If (and only if) we arrive safely we may decide to press on further to Timbuktu.
